New Life — Casting Out Your Line

The next six weeks will be devoted to understanding what becomes "New" when we know God in a personal way through His Son Jesus. It is my hope for these devotions to not only lift you up, but also excite you toward the use of the studies I've designed to go with them. The links below make it easy to follow for any age. Thank you for your prayers and support throughout the coming year!

Why Did Jesus Come?

"May grace and peace come to you from Jesus Christ. What Jesus gives witness to can always be trusted. He was the first to rise from the dead. He rules over the kings of the earth." Revelation 1:5

Jesus came to bring truth about God and how we are to live. He came to show us how to become children of God and live an abundant life on earth and most importantly an everlasting life in God's Kingdom. He came to die for us, and rise up again as the "first born," into this "New Life." He did not stop there! He then sent His Holy Spirit to guide, protect and comfort us on this "New Life" journey.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

God did not bring death into the world; Not a bodily death and certainly not a spiritual death. Man, with Satan's help and deception, brought both when choosing to disobey God and allow sin in. Sin brought sorrow, pain, death, and eternal separation from God.
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1John 4:9
When someone dies, I often hear a loved one say that God took them. In one sense I believe that is true. When the earthly body dies, God does take the believer home to his eternal residence in heaven. However, God does not cause sorrow, pain, death or even separation from Himself. The Bible says He is the giver of life, and through His Son Jesus, He brings a "New Life" for all who will come to Him.
Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Jesus came to bring an everlasting life that cannot be taken away. This is the biggest of the, IN FAITH, HE...moments of my life. Through my faith in Him, trust in Him, and reliance upon Him, He has given salvation to me and a "New Life" full of purpose and hope. Am I then just to be grateful for this awesome gift and keep it to myself?
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

"O, Death, where is your sting? "O Hades, where is your victory?" (Hosea 13:14)

The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 15:54-56

God gave eternal life to all people for all time. When we die, we will spend that forever life apart from Him in total darkness or live an abundant life with Him in His glorious Kingdom. It is a personal choice. He has asked us to share His gospel (good news) with others out of our love for Him, and our love for them.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...Rom.1:16a

A Prayer to Share:

Lord Jesus,

Bring the understanding of Your Word clearly to me that I may share it with others. Give power to my spiritual offerings of love and use me to further the purpose of Your Kingdom! To whom would You have me cast Your New Life Line, today?
