IN FAITH, HE....Devotional
God's Search Hide and Go Seek
How would you think this venture of "Hide and Go Seek" with God came to be? We hide, we seek, we hide and hopefully we do not stop seeking. God searches. He stretches out His loving arms and hopes to find us open to His calling. The Bible says, "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him...." 2 Chronicles 16:9a
Destined for Life / Primed for Service
Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually, "The LORD be magnified!" Psalms 40:16
As God's children, Satan can and will lead us in directions God clearly instructs us not to go. We seek those things in life which can keep us from growing closer to Him. Just as it was in the beginning of mankind, our hearts and minds are turned toward people and things which are given a deceptive allure by Satan. We hide in our stubbornness or perhaps our shame. The act of seeking goes both ways! What is our part in this "Hide and Go Seek" scenario? We must seek to know and love Him more intently! For good reason, our LORD is most pleased to find us praising and rejoicing in the joy of our salvation.
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who ask receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Matthew 7:7
So many of the pitfalls in life can be avoided with prayers for God's guidance and protection. Resolving to seek understanding of His Word will lead us into His will and the plans He has grafted especially for each one of us. He needs our cooperation to accomplish His good work within us!
I have gone astray like a lost sheep: Seek Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments. Psalms 119:176
I can recall when seeking the mind and heart of God was not my priority. The Word of God was this awesome book I loved, however it was quite often placed where I could not see it. Out of sight and out of mind. IN FAITH, HE... delivered me from my self centered activities and reminded me of my need to be Christ centered. No one can know the mind of God. We can gain wisdom and knowledge about Him from His Word. As for the heart of God; He reveals His love in many ways. Agape does not need to be sought after. No love is greater than the love He revealed to all on the cross at Calvary.
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
Jesus says it best!
"Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. "What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astay, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish." Matthew 18:10-14
Have you ever wondered why most people with wonderful testimonies of the saving grace of God were in the worst of life's circumstances on the day of their salvation? Many are drawn to Jesus because they have cried out to Him with a contrite heart or broken spirit. Others, by those sharing their salvation experience with it's eternal love and awesome resurrection power. When the lost cry out, Jesus hears their cry and welcomes them joyfully into the family of God. When the children of God cry out, He is ever present giving them a hope and promise for their future. His forgiving and merciful love comes without restrictions.
"... I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:10
A Prayer to Share:
The love You give is so hugh and I can hardly grasp the might of it's power. Help me to be aware of my need to share it daily with others. Purify my heart when it gets cluttered with worldly concerns. Make me aware of Your presence so You may be pleased as You search my whole heart.
Please read Cherbear's children's story fitting the "Hide and Go Seek" theme, as it depicts Jonah and the Prodigal Fish (son) revealing their stories as they are captured inside the belly of the Whale. The story ends with both finding God's great love in repentance. I hope you will follow the links to the end. What a joy this one was to write!
