IN FAITH, HE....Devotional

The links below are for your convenience to guide you into much relavant material related to this devotion, in and out of They are good for all ages! Be sure to explore them!

Reaching for Higher Ground

This keyboard looks a lot like my empty art canvas in the basement. I'm sitting here in need of writing a devotion about "Patience" and nothing is coming to mind. This puts me in a state of "worry"..humm!A thought has come to me, "Why not do it while still in fear?" Normally I await the inner peace of the Holy Spirit or He comes to me in the night with a great idea, then I begin to write. This time I will confront worry and fear head on with the Spirit of the Lord, before the calmness comes!

Worry and Stress vs. Patience and Trust

My background is conducive to worry. I learned it from the best of teachers. My sweet Mother. I remember admiring her for it. I felt it was a decent trait as it reflected her loving and caring nature, which was evident to all who knew her. Some have said I am a lot like my Mom; In that area a bit of a clone. This precious lady suffered a health condition, I believe traceable to the worry she allowed to consume her in her younger years. When bad things happened in our family we sheltered Mom. We all "worried" she could not handle bad news. I wonder what my family has kept from me?

"IN FAITH, HE..." did not leave either of us in our chosen state of worry. In later years as we walked with Jesus and sought God's will, He revealed a better way. Turning worries into prayers and impatience into a calm waiting upon Him. We began to watch what God was doing in the circumstances of our lives, amazed as He brought good out of evil. Mom functioned wonderfully with the new light she chose to shine. I hope the clone analogy continues.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts, and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Paul goes on to tell us how to accomplish this. He exhorts us to think on what is good, true and beautiful, and to live our lives in Christ Jesus. We will always need to cope with negative thoughts and our feelings. We must confront the spirit of worry through God's mighty power in the Name of Jesus! When worry comes, pause and pray, and above all be patient for His reply. We often get rattled and that is when we jump ahead of God. Remember who you are in Christ. Exercising patience and trust in the Lord brings the victory and sets us free in His perfect timing. We can experience His faithfulness in the bad times, seeing the goodness of God in all things!

Thank You God. You were already in this article before I hit the first key. When worry comes, You are quick to calm me and give me courage. I praise You for enabling me to serve others. Your strength is perfect in my weakness and so is your timing. Amen!

Fruit of the Spirit Series

An 8 week series on the Fruit of the Holy Spirit

This is week five of the Fruit of the Spirit series from Gramma Cherbear and her critters. Next week we learn about "Peace." God teaches us there is a kind of peace that passes our understanding! We can exerience it, if we experience Him.

"But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good.It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself. There is no law against things of that kind." Galatians 5:22-23
