Ten Commandments and Beatitudes for Kids | for Teens

IN FAITH, HE....Devotional

God the Father spoke in The Old Testament Commandments:

These commands are our indictment! He gave us further instruction in The New Testament Commandments and in The Beatitudes. And then, Jesus the Christ provided our pardon!
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
First Commandment
"You shall have no other gods before me." Deuteronomy 5:7
Relating Beatitudes
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:3
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." Matthew 5:8
Trusting God with the Future
Nahum 1:7 "The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.."
The Bible says, when we belong to Jesus, we are His brothers and sisters, and co heirs to the throne of God. Can we get any better than that? Our joy should be full because of what our Savior has done. He has given us heaven for an eternal home, even though we do not deserve it. We are blessed no matter what this life has to throw at us. We can leap for joy for God has made us free from sin and death. Paul helps us to know how to handle these times of uncertainty. He did after all face some pretty horrendous circumstances. His faith in the ONE and ONLY God of our eternal destiny did not falter.
Phil. 4:6-9 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable --if anything is excellent or praiseworthy --think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me --put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."
Mid life strikes and many of us begin to reassess our lives. My husband and I began to see problems ahead if he continued to work through to retirement on a swing shift job. As our walk with Jesus grew we began to ask God for a new job. He quickly responded and sent the answer to our prayers. We are sometimes perplexed by the initial outcome of prayer. It was not long and my husband was downsized from a secure 16 year supervisor position. We had lost that security blanket and our comfort zone was a bit shattered. So it seemed! But what were we truly facing? Like Abraham, we can't see where God is taking us. We see confirmation in direction and trust in His guidance and provision.
Mal. 3:10-11 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty.
This was not exactly the way we had envisioned our answer from God. A few months later, I was convinced I should turn my time and talents over to God! We agreed that I should close my beauty shop and leave a successful hairstyling career to enable me to work in ministry for the Lord. "IN FAITH, HE..." kept us strong and convicted us to hold firm to our commitments to serve Him, trust Him and continue our tithe. God is our provider! His faithfulness sustains us! He continues to build our faith with every trial He allows to befall us. No matter what our need, whether healing or assurance, God is always ahead of us.
As Christians we must believe and hold onto Jesus, act on our faith and trust in Him to do all things well. When unbelief creeps in to sway our thinking, we can ask God to help us in our unbelief!
Mark 9:24 ... "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
We can have joy and peace that passes the understanding of many in the world when it comes to the unknown future we face. God has prepared the way for us! My husband will soon retire from the job which God supplied in uncertain times. I have a new focus and whether it is on my books, in web ministry or instructing Tai Chi at our local YMCA, it is a day by day plan. God is faithful to our obedience. I know the work I do is firmly held in His hands. What He has begun, He will finish! His faithfulness continues!
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
Lord Jesus,
It isn't always easy. We fall down. You pick us up. You provide our hiding place and we will not falter. You are our faithful, God. Thank you for providing our every need.
