IN FAITH, HE....Devotional

Stone Markers or Faith Builder Motivators

"Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, 'What do these stones mean to you?" Joshua 4:6
Many times, the Bible tells us God instructed His people to build altars of stone so they would always be reminded of His mighty power and His presence with His people. It is no less important for us to follow these instructions as His children.
Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation. Joel 1-3
Can you remember times when you have felt really close to God? When you were sad, God brought you comfort; when you needed strength, you experienced His power; perhaps you were sick and He made you well? These times can be used as stone markers or "spiritual markers." They show how God has been with you in the past and can build your faith leading you to where God wants you in the future.
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6
We could call these markers faith builders. IN FAITH, HE... rewards those who continually look toward Him. He shows Himself to those who love and obey Him. His Word and His Holy Spirit are with us to teach us about Him. When we keep record of those times when God has revealed Himself to us, it can be not only a faith builder to others, but it can keep us growing in our faith as well!
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
As God's children we are to believe what He says in His Word is truth and He is faithful to do what He says He will do. We can be sure of His love and a new life in Heaven, even though we cannot see it with our eyes. We see it with our hearts!
"Scripture says that Jesus is " 'the stone you builders did not accept. But it has become the most important stone of all.' You can't be saved by believing in anyone else. God has given us no other name under heaven that will save us." Acts 4:11-12
Jesus is called the "Corner Stone," or the "Cap Stone," in the Old Testament. The corner stone or cap stone in a building is one that has to be there or the building will fall down. God tells us there is no other god besides Jesus whom we can believe in and be saved.
"Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever; For they are the rejoicing of my heart." Psalm 119:111
When I think of my remarkable times with God, it is always best if I have written them down or kept some sort of memorandum to be better able to give testimony of God's goodness or possibly the power of God when someone is really in need of hearing it. One way we can be accurate in our witness of the Lord is to keep a prayer journal as a reminder of God's activity in our life.
A prayer to share:
Lord Jesus,
You are my "Cap Stone,"  without which I would crumble.  I cherish those spiritually marked, faith building "stone markers" of my life. Help me to remember them and share your goodness with others.
Amen
