"IN FAITH, HE..." Devotional from Cherbear

The Light that Guides

I often get the idea for a title in a devotion before I actually know what verses I will select or what direction the article will take. This one leads up to the week before the Halloween craze sweeps the attention of our children and this title leads me straight into the ease of Satan's deceptions.

Darkness that Deceives / Imaginations that Hinder

God wants to be our Lamp in this dark world! And it is very dark sometimes. It is not easy to see when we are bombarded with so much "desensatising" information from the world view. Even as we strive to do good, Satan is always there to convince us, "it's not really a bad thing," or "we have a right to do that." In our imaginations we sometimes rationalize what we want to be true! It just fits our life so much better when we "imagine."

What God says in His Word is truth; We need to be seeking our answers from Him. The Bible shows us right from wrong and good from evil. Simple as that! Where God's Word makes sense, don't mess with it! He gives some pretty clear instructions. God's Holy Spirit will help us understand, and it is through listening to His Holy Spirit, IN FAITH, HE... reveals His lamp of understanding. Knowing what God says in His Word will help to keep us out of the darkness of unholy mindsets where Satan's confusion resides.

"You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light." 2 Samuel 22:29

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill can't be hidden." Luke 8:16

If you have that heartfelt personal relationship with Jesus, you can see as He sees and He will reveal truth when you turn your heart toward Him and seek to know and obey Him. That is when you become a "beacon," lighting the way for others. That is when you and I know we are truely set free! Not only are we freely forgiven...We are freely informed!

John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Submission to God's Holy Spirit and living for Him, serves to set us free from the bondage of sin. When God frees us from addictions, bad behavior, and Satan's lies, He has lit a torch of freedom from "wrong thinking" as well. When we are willing, His Holy Spirit brings the understanding. Oh, what JOY, fills our hearts and minds when that freedom enters in! Freedom for us to live a life at peace with God, now and for eternity, came at a high price. However, it was not for us to pay. Jesus already paid it for us on the cross at Calvary. We just need to accept that wonderful gift and allow God to be the boss!

"Life was in Him, and that life was the light for all people" John 1:4
