"IN FAITH, HE..." Devotional from Cherbear

Wants or Needs
You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. Psalms 145:16 What a wonderful observance from the Psalmist. We learn so much about the ever reaching love of our Lord and here we learn that His hand is also always open to us as well. His helping hand! Our help comes from the Lord even though we do not always see His hands at work. Could it be that we need to watch more closely?
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." Romans 12:2a
This world teaches us a lot about making sure we get our needs met. We need to be successful, wealthy, independent, tolerated and don't forget popular! Or do we? God's Word puts a much better perspective on our "needs." God says we need Jesus! All of our needs are met through Him. God owns everything and holds our future in His care. He has an awesome life plan for each of His children, and His plans are always better than what we think up on our own. We do have needs, indeed. However, we should allow God to show us what they really are. God does not think the way we think and we can have a new way of thinking if we let God change our thoughts!
My God will meet all your needs. He will meet them in keeping with His wonderful riches that come to you because you belong to Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
God will give us everything we need because we belong to Jesus. He's not real keen on our reliance on Mr. Want however. When my husband and I were raising our children, Mr. Want was seldom allowed in our home or car and especially could not tag along when we went shopping. My Mom called it "having wantitis," as if we had some sort of disease. Mr. Need, on the other hand was always quite welcome. When he came around, we as parents were always quick to respond. I tend to see God's provisions in the same way. We are His children and He says He will use what He owns to give us what we need. I believe we should remember that our love for God should never depend on what He can do for us. We love Him because He is God and through His Son, Jesus, He has already given all that is needed. IN FAITH, He... will enable us to live in a trusting relationship with Him.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26
God knows if we spend time worrying about ourselves, we will be hendered in our service to Him and come short of His Kingdom purpose for our lives. When we live a life of awareness about what God is doing around us we will be more tuned in to how He works and then, we just may get of glimpse of His glorious nature. We can experience blessings coming out from troubles. This is when we see His Agape love where others may only see confusion. Trusting in Him allows the mighty works of His hands to triumph, allowing His glory to shine through, leading us to brighter days. God is with us always and He cares for His children!
A prayer to share:
How can I thank You, Dear Lord? for always being my Strong Tower; For fulfilling my every need and better yet knowing what my needs really are so much better than I know myself! Help me to distinguish between what my wants may be, and what Your plans hold for all of my needs.
