This "Fruit of the Spirit" study from Cherbear's biblical insights Devotional for teenagers also contains five daily devotions and a weekly Bible Study suited for the earlier teen years. This eight part series singles out each of the "fruits" found in Galatians 5:22-23a, revealing what happens when we use the gifts of the Holy Spirit given to us when we accept Jesus' gift of salvation. The focus is on knowing God's character and using the gifts! The Lord brought these illustrations, lessons and devotions to me in reverse order, saving the most important one for last! Agape!

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..." Galatians 5:22-23a

Self Control - Controlling Spirits

We will either choose to be controlled by Satan, our sinful flesh, and the world, or by God. We are constantly at war with the first three. When we know Jesus in a personal way and invite Him into our situations, His Holy Spirit comes immediately to our aid in times of confusion. It is by choice that we can use self control, but by God's power that we can overcome the temptations to go against God's ways. God is a gentleman and will not force His will on us. We need to use His gift of self control to choose His better plan in all things. Your future is controlled by whomever controls your soul.
"...each of you should learn to control his own body
in a way that is holy and honorable...
For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life."
1 Thessalonians 4,7
